Gautam Gambhir scored a brilliant century as captain of India A in a practice match against the visiting Australians in Chennai. In the first innings, Gambhir scored 112(162b ; 13X4 ; 3X6) to set India A up for a big total. Manoj Tiwary later bolstered the team’s score with a powerpacked 129(187b ; 18X4 ; 3X6) that helped India A finish on 451 against a strong Aussie bowling lineup.
Brendon McCullum has been in great form against England, scoring a blistering 74 off 38 balls in the 2nd T20I to help NZ register a 55 run win over England. He carried this form into the ODI’s by smashing 69 off 61 balls to lead his team to a tense 3 wicket win over England in the first match of the series on Sunday.
In the Vijay Hazare trophy, LR Shukla (5/34) and Manoj Tiwary (55) led Bengal to an 11 run win over Odisha while Iqbal Abdulla put in another spectacular all round performance for Mumbai (43 off 32 balls & 3/44) to take them to a 17 run win over Baroda.
Shakib Al Hasan put in a terrific all round performance for Dhaka Gladiators to take his team into the final of the BPL. In the semi final, Shakib scored 59 off 29 balls and followed it up by taking 2 wickets for 25 runs to give his team a comfortable 29 run win.
